Modern Rag Doll Making
I started my journey of becoming a Modern Rag Doll Maker!!! I just love this process. Having something so cute to share with my fair little friends and visitors is a treat for sure! I love seeing the faces of children light up at the onset of entering the land of imagination!!!
Visit my YouTube Channel below where you can see a little recap of my progress so far, and I say 'so far' because I am not done by any stretch of the imagination!
Episode 1
This is a little intro where I show the fabric choices I made for my first doll. I can tell you that I am going to go shopping for just the right 'Red' fabrics to create a true 'Little Red Riding Hood' Doll! But I do like to do an intentional stitch out of every new design I do especially if I am not familiar with the Digitizer. In this case, these are the first of the new Riley Blake Designs so I will be stitching each of these and sharing my findings with you!
Episode 2
This is a short tutorial on how I organize my Machine Embroidery files and a bit of a an intro into what you find on Riley Blake Designs USB Drive. I like the way they have put the USB drive together. Everything is easy to find and not too many clicks!!
Episode 3
In this episode I show you how I work my way through reading the pattern for the first time and give you some insights into how that plays out for this project. This is a multi hoop project so having things organized before going to the Embroidery Machine really helps to move this project along. Also, there are some sewing steps that need to be completed for steps that come later on in the embroidery process. If you only have one machine that does both Sewing and Embroidery, you will appreciate seeing these steps first rather than 'along the way' ~ no reason to remove the arm of the machine when you complete those steps at the front of the project! Yay!
In Episode 4 I will be showing my Second Modern Rag Doll - Little Red Riding Hood - only in red fabrics. I always learn stuff along the way and I want to share that with you in the video. I'm not sure how many of you have had to 'add' things to hoops, but for me~ not very many. And this is SO different~ Arms, Legs, Pigtails! It was scarey but turned out to be so easy. Jennifer Long clearly spent a lot of time developing the techniques that are clear in the pattern and fun to do! I want to show you all how that doll comes together in real time! I'm excited to do this and hope that you will join me in this wonderful journey of making a modern rag doll!
