H&H Recap - Part 1
Oh, my goodness! What a FUN time at H&H Americas. I was honored to meet so many of the people I have watched for and admired over the years. So let's begin...
Kimberly Jolly of Fat Quarter Shop comes to mind first. I think they have EVERYTHING! Gracious it's been fun to watch this company grow and I know many of you enjoy shopping with them AS DO I! In our small shop we can't carry everything we would like to carry, and so when we can, we direct you to Fat Quarter Shop because that is where we go when our local shops don't have what we might be looking for. Their customer service is EXCELLENT!
We discovered Fat Quarter Shop just about the time we were getting ready to open CaDi Corners way back in 2012. They had been in business for a few years and were doing SO MANY THINGS RIGHT!!! We love the videos, and especially love their generosity with Make A Wish Foundation. Each year they show a new quilt, place a free pattern in their shop for download and ask for donations. Then the Jolly family matches the donations - All for the Make a Wish Foundation. What an honor it is to be a part of something so BIG for these little peeps!
When I was getting ready to go to H&H, Kimberly was on my list of people I wanted to meet. I wanted to tell her how much we appreciate all she does for this industry of quilting! We feel a bit of a kindred spirit with her because we also care so much to make sure we pass our knowledge on to the next generation.
So, here I am walking down an isle at the end of the first day - quite exhausted and there she was right in front of me! Isn't she so sweet! And she's tall! I thought I was tall, but nope, she's got me beat! I was able to chat with her for a few minutes before a bunch of others spotted her! Thank you to Kimberly Jolly for those lovely moments and my wonderful memory! Keep on keeping on!!!!
The next person on my list is Lori Holt. I didn't have a lot of confidence that I would get to meet and talk with her because she is SEW AWESOME! and after all, how could some someone like that possibly have time for a little tiny shop owner like me??? Well, guess what? Oh my goodness, well look below at the pictures! I know why Kimberly Jolly and Lori Holt are good friends- Lori is so sweet and quiet and Kimberly is bigger than life. Great friends tend to compliment each other and that is how I see Kimberly and Lori.
Lori was great to meet. I first saw her in the isle just like I did with Kimberly, but then I got to stand in line at the book signing where I was given a book and got to spend a bit of time with Lori when she was signing it. But more than that, I got to see her spending a bit of time with each person in line in front of me who she signed a book for. It looked to me like Lori was with her best friend to everyone in line! My girlfriend Terry snapped some pictures.
Thank you Lori! You have touched my heart not just in your amazing designs and fabrics, but because of how real you are. Blessings to you!
Above: Bumping in to Lori as I wander!
Below: At the Riley Blake Design - Lori's Table. LOVED seeing the circle afghan in progress! Check out her YouTube if you haven't already. Lori was SO kind to point out some different styles of choosing the colors! I'm All In on this one! Did you know we carry Lori's Chunky Thread? We have 'almost' all the colors!
Above: Finally my turn!!!! And Lori was So Sweet! Knowing she was chatting with each person like we were all her best friends, made the wait in line so bearable. After all, we all had this one thing in common~ How much we love and appreciate Lori Holt! She makes my happy place, so happy looking!!!!
Below: A VERY Tickled ME with Lori. Oh my goodness. I must confess that even now as I write this, my eyes are watering again!!
There is SEW much more to show you... Keep on the look out for Part 2. More of my favorite designers! And a really big moment with a new friend when we met for the first time in person!!!
Happy Stitching!!!
